Bambuddha is Back for 2015

Bambuddha is Back for 2015

Bambuddha Ibiza

Each time you arrive at the temple of temptation that is Bambuddha, an iconic Ibiza experience begins. Walk beneath a canopy of bamboo, past ancient artefacts and sultry furnishings and you’ll find yourself mingling with the island’s most glamorous crowd, all intent on sampling one of its most memorable adventures.

Founded in 1999 by owner John Moon (aka elder of the ‘Black Sheep Tribe’), Bambuddha is not just a place to eat or drink; it is an all-encompassing experience for the senses. Little wonder that its reopening on 27th March 2015 is already the hottest date in the island’s social calendar. The mantle has now passed to John’s son Jonjon, signalling that the evolution continues. With
the venue rechristened simply Bambuddha, 2015 will herald exciting developments. Together with subtle changes to the striking décor, including the addition of a collection of luxurious ‘huts’, a new culinary concept will reinforce the restaurant’s reputation as the go to destination on the island.

Bambuddha’s unique MediterrAsian food philosophy has always been inspired by the personal journeys, adventures and  xperimentations of John Moon. The global travels of head chef Alejandro Arquero Martinez have also had a profound influence on the cuisine, resulting in the introduction of new signature dishes such as watermelon sashimi, sake flambéed Ibizan shrimp and Iberican pork & scallop gyozas.

With the help of Jonjon, Alex’s creations have ensured that Bambuddha has won Ibiza’s coveted Fine Dining Restaurant award in 2013 and 2014. However, this year they have gone one step further by removing the classic menu of starters and main courses and introducing instead a sharing concept. Presented in small plates, food is placed at the centre of the table for all to sample. With each dish – from mussels cooked in coconut milk, Shaoxing wine, lime, chili & coriander through to slow roasted lamb served with creamy polenta, shimeji mushrooms, cocoa crunch & Jack Daniels sauce – guests are able to enjoy numerous Bambuddha fusion dishes, all of them inspired by the ancient Spice Route from Cadiz, Spain to Osaka, Japan.

The cocktail collection that artfully adds to the sensual and spiritual vibe that is at the heart of the Bambuddha experience will continue to thrill. In the Tantra Cocktail Palace, powerful, glimmering Buddhas stand guard each night as mixologists conjure up signature concoctions like Joy; Shiva Lingam and Foreplay. Another highlight of Bambuddha is the famous Boutique and Tantra Sex Shop run by designer Gonzalo Ordoñez, whose creations include a range of hugely successful python handbags and a collection of erotic lingerie to wear after dinner (or during if the need occurs).

Throughout the summer, DJ James Kameran will once again be dropping the perfect soundtrack until the early hours. Having entertained thousands of visitors over the last 15 seasons, the subtly revitalised Bambuddha will continue to be the place in Ibiza to host deluxe dinners, private events, monumental parties and just about everything in between, a place loved by loyalists and the visiting ‘it’ crowd alike.
