However, the island is in full swing and there are many festive activities happening over the next few weeks as islanders and visitors alike are getting into the Christmas spirit. Christmas Family Activities
For those with young children – who havent yet tired of hearing Let it Go already, there is a fabulous Frozen show which runs at the theatre Can Ventosa in Ibiza Town over the holiday period. Based on the smash hit Disney musical the performances take place on Friday 25th December at 19.30, Saturday 26th December at 18.30 & 20.30 and the grand finale performance on Sunday 27th December at 12.00. On Tuesday 22nd December, there will be a special magic show at the cultural centre in Jesus with the much loved local magician Albert performing some special Christmas tricks and a surprise visit from Papa Noel himself! If you are a last minute buyer then there is no need to panic this year as there are plenty of wonderful retail therapy outlets open right up until the big day! For something unusual why not head to the magical homeware and accessories mecca, Sluiz in Santa Gertrudis which is a veritable treasure trove of gift ideas. Their special Christmas market takes place on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th December with live music and mulled wine to warm your souls! The world famous Las Dalias hippy market also has their annual Christmas market which runs from December 18, 2015 to January 5, 2016, opening times are Monday to Friday from 1700 to 2200, Saturday all day and Sunday from 1500 until 2200, and amongst the usual stalls selling vibrant clothing and jewellery you will find special Christmas decorations and themed gifts. Its a great place to go for an evening and soak up the festive spirit, meet friends and enjoy a drink in the welcoming bar and restaurant.
New Year Celebrations
With an ever growing number of direct flights to Europe at affordable prices, Ibiza is becoming a firm favourite place to see in the New year, and where else could you find some of the worlds top DJs who will be hosting the celebrations this year. On New Years Eve at Pacha, Solomun will be ruling the decks and you can expect a cool and international crowd to be packing out the dancefloor as the clock strikes midnight. Guests in the beautiful Pacha restaurant will also be treated to a show from the performers from their sister club Lio, who will be dazzling diners with their own spectacular brand of cabaret magic. New Years Day belongs to DC10 and the legendary promoters Circo Loco will be providing another NYD extravaganza for those of you who still have the energy to continue the party! Many people plan their trip to Ibiza just to attend this most iconic of parties, and this year looks set to keep up the standard with The Martinez brothers confirmed as headliners, with Richie Hawtin flowing close behind. DC10 stalwarts Tania Vulcano and Clive Henry will also be providing the soundtrack to your celebrations and as always this looks set to be a roadblock so be sure to book your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment!
