With the summer season fast approaching, everybody is becoming excited in anticipation of the line-up releases. The prestigious names of Carl Cox, Luciano, Marco Carola and Richie Hawtin will be looked out for by Ibiza experts on the back of their success in 2013. A surprising contest is however, reportedly being fought between clubs for the addition to their roster of Justin Bieber: World class DJ?
Whilst Justin Biebers mixing skills remain unknown to many, what is unquestionable is his recognition as one of the most well-known faces of modern times. This could be his attempt to shake off his Marmite esq tag of being loved by some, but not so much by others. It is common knowledge that a man of his stature will come under an incredible criticism if his performances are anything short of perfect. There is a mutual agreement amongst Ibiza veterans that the best DJs earn that right by working their way up on the island.
The same opinion greeted Paris Hilton when she announced her residency at Amnesia last summer. Her Diamonds and Foam event returns for 2014 and received a mixed response, many of whom would not have actually attended the event. Of course it will be a less underground style, much more commercial type of event. Just remember, if it was not for these more mainstream events, would there be such a thing as non-commercial?
Justin Bieber himself was even refused entry from Sankeys Manchester recently whilst in England. The reason given from the club was that they do not appreciate shufflers. An obstacle as scrutinising as that would surely make him think twice about Ibiza? Any performer from any background certainly deserves a shot at changing the face of his career to be more specific to the island we all love. Is that not one of the things that Ibiza is all about?
