Seasoned veterans of Ibiza will know that there are so many ways to spend time during the day. A place of popular interest for a day out different to any other, is to visit the Aquarium Cap Blanc near San Antonio. Open even during the winter, the quaint aquarium has become another of Ibiza’s institutions of late.
The underwater observation can be a fun day for families visiting the island, or anyone that wonders what kind of creatures share a love for the Ibiza coastline. Octopuses, Rays and lots of other marine creatures can be seen here in their natural habitat. The underground cave is known by some as the ‘Lobster Cave’, after its original use as a storage tank for local fishermen’s lobsters. A complete reversal of purpose, sees the tank that was once just the last stop for the lobsters before going to the market to be sold, as now a place for injured sea creatures to be nursed before being let back out to the wild.
The cave itself can come across as quite a nerving experience as you descend below water. It has a real ‘pirates cave’ quality about it that could send a shiver down anyone’s spine. This is of course also very fun and a great place to take children. There are refreshments available back above sea level, with a quaint little bar overlooking the western coast of Ibiza.
