The popular Benirras Beach situated to the north of the island, draws in locals and tourists alike. The 160 metre stretch of sand is a wonderful sun trap consisting of light, pebbly sand. Beautiful green pine trees are scattered along the rocks that rise up around the beach, making for some spectacular views for those brave enough to venture upwards.
Located not far from the resort of San Miguel, Benirras Beach can be easily reached by car. The way is sign posted and there is a small car park available for visitors. The beach can get quite busy in the summer months however, so it is worth getting there early and making a day of it.
Popular activities include snorkelling, swimming and of course getting that all important Ibiza tan. For those looking for a little more aquatic adventure, there are pedaloes for hire; ideal for exploring the crystal blue waters that this area of Ibiza has to offer. This beach attracts lots of small motor boats and private yachts looking to moor up throughout the day. Many can often be seen soaking up the sun and happily bobbing away out in the further reaches of the bay.
The real highlight of a trip to Benirras Beach comes at sunset. The Ibiza sunset is a spectacle which can be enjoyed in so many different places across the island, but at Benirras they like to see it in with a little extra flair. If you heading down just for this, make sure you check our guide for what time you need to arrive. As the evening draws to a close, a group of drummers assemble themselves around the shore, and with dramatic effect begin to beat in the setting sun. As it starts to dip below the horizon, the drumming increases in tempo and volume. A breathtaking experience.
