Playa d’en Bossa – A Visitors Guide

Playa den Bossa (11)

The resort of Playa d’en Bossa has undergone a dramatic transformation in recent years. Formerly best known as a haven for after party ravers as well as families visiting the island, the additions of luxurious beachbars, the five star hotels Hard Rock and Ushuaia and countless restaurants and bars has led to it being dubbed the ‘South Beach’ of Ibiza, a favourable comparison to Miami’s most glamorous area. Here at Ibiza Hire we have put together a guide to this busy town.

Where to eat

If you like to dine whilst looking out at the sea then you are certainly in the right place. Along the long stretch of sand which makes up the beach, there are literally hundreds of bars and restaurants to choose from. With options to suit all tastes and budgets, the only problem you will have is which one to choose! Try Mumak for real Jamaican soul food, the jerk chicken rice and peas is to die for. For a taste of Italy, head to Scirocco, where the menu puts a modern twist on Italian classics. The health freaks amongst you should check out the Passion Cafe, which is renowned across the island for its excellent range of fresh juices, super-food salads and raw food.

The main street of the resort offers everything from tacky t-shirts to CD’s, trinkets and beach paraphernalia, but if you look hard enough there are some real gems to be found amongst the souvenir shops. Check out Devasuki, next to Lips bar, owned by Ibiza born designer Deva Allen, for an eclectic range of dresses, bikinis and accessories. The boutique inside Sands beach bar and restaurant, at the far end of the strip is also another treasure trove of funky and vintage finds. With long flowing dresses, handmade jewellery and bags, it is the ideal place to refresh your Ibiza wardrobe.

The main beach of the resort is the longest in Ibiza, and offers a huge range of watersports, including jet skiing, windsurfing, sightseeing trips and banana boats . Neighbouring Es Cavallet and Salinas beaches are also worth a visit to experience the clear blue waters and stunning scenery.

The Aguamar water park here has been a popular attraction for many years, with huge slides and rides offering fun for people of all ages. Smaller children will be in heaven in the Piroleto Park which is a purpose built play centre with ball parks, soft play areas and trampolines.

A clubber’s paradise, Playa d’en Bossa is alive with the beats of house music on any given night. From the ?ber cool sounds of Carl Cox at Space, David Guetta at Ushuaia, and live acts such as Neneh Cherry and Robin Thicke at Hard Rock Hotel, you cannot fail to find a night to suit any musical taste.
