San Antonio 2015
In recent years, the ever popular resort of San Antonio has undergone a dramatic transformation. It has previously received a fair amount of negative press due to its reputation for being a party place, which has sometimes attracted some fairly outrageous behaviour, however, we are happy to report that San An is fast becoming a more family friendly, and more peaceful place to holiday, with a wealth of new bars, restaurants and hotels catering for those who wish to enjoy the beauty of the town without the booze culture. We have uncovered some of the best places for you to visit this summer..
Wine and Dine
Whatever your culinary tastes or budget, San An has an abundance of excellent restaurants to choose from. Take a trip to Cala Gracioneta, a beautiful bay just outside of the main town, where you can soak up the chic and elegant surroundings of El Chiringuito, a pretty, ambient beach bar and restaurant with an excellent and varied menu based around traditional Mediterranean dishes with a modern twist. The setting is impossibly romantic with views over the picturesque bay. Another favourite spot is Villa Mercedes which has been serving both locals and holidaymakers alike for over 15 years. Situated in a prime location overlooking he recently renovated port, it is a great spot to watch the world go by whilst enjoying a cocktail or two in the comfort of their Moroccan style chill out area, or at one of the dining areas looking out at the sparkling waters. For a view of the legendary Ibizan sunset, we recommend Kasbah, which is set slightly away from the busiest section of the world famous Sunset Strip, but offers spectacular views of the sun making its final descent into the sea, with an eclectic and innovative menu, which is very reasonably priced.
Sun and Sea
The area of San Antonio is home to some of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Regular ferry services from the main town take you to the breathtaking bays of Cala Bassa and Cala Comte, where the crystal clear turquoise waters are simply unforgettable. For a really memorable experience, why not hire a boat for the day and ask your experienced skipper to introduce you to the wonders of the areas coastline, maybe even taking in a visit to the mystical rock Es Vedra which is said to have magical powers. Ibiza Hire can arrange boat charters to suit all sizes of groups and budgets, so whether you prefer to whizz around the water on a speedboat, or the more sedate elegance of a sailing yacht, let us arrange it all for you, leaving you free to kick back and enjoy the breathtakingl views.
Of course, San Antonio is also famous for its vibrant nightlife scene, and indeed the town has so many fantastic bars and nightclubs that the only problem you will have is deciding where to go next! Want to let loose on the dancefloor? Then head to Eden or Es Paradis, both of which host some of the best nights on the island, including Judgement by Judge Jules at Eden, and Hed Kandi at Es Paradis. If you prefer to get down to some live music then San An is also home to Ibiza Rocks, the hub of live music on the island. Summer 2015 sees them celebrating their tenth anniversary, and with big names acts such as Clean Bandit, The Libertines and even a much anticipated reunion performance from Spandau Ballet, there is something to suit all musical tastes!
